A defective electronic device charger in the east wing of this historic home caused a fire that quickly engulfed a substantial portion of the house. The entire interior suffered irreparable smoke damage while the blaze decimated the first floor of the east wing. Elements of the house that were damaged and needed complete replacement included various historic windows and doors and the eave soffit.
The owners decided to rebuild their home and make the necessary updates to meet their current needs. A dramatic flame-colored staircase is the focal point of the newly opened-up space. Another nod to the home that arose from the ashes is the Shou Sugi Ban finishes that provide dark walls for a media room/lounge area. A fresh update to the backyard patio includes a sliding deck to reveal a tiled hot tub.
