Broadway 10 Bar and Chophouse is housed in 8‚000 square feet on the ground floor of the historic Buick building, constructed in 1926. The program was to insert a modern restaurant space into a historic shell, leaving as many notable elements in place as possible.
A simple neon sign over the front door welcomes guests into the grand space, made cozy by a warm color palette, wood and stone finishes and upholstered booths staggered at different heights to offer a sense of privacy for diners.
Steel beams were attached to existing concrete columns to allow for hidden conduits and raceways for lighting and audio/visual wiring. The original cast iron stair rail was left in place, as well as the original marble stairs and surrounding flooring. Modern photographs of vintage Buicks, some most likely sold as new out of this very building, grace the four private and semi-private rooms, all equipped with top-notch A/V equipment for meetings.
The pattern in the metal screening at the hostess stand was inspired by stacked wood used in the kitchen’s wood-fired grill. The round holes of the kitchen’s massive exhaust hood mimic the ventiports of vintage 50s-60s Buicks
