The Yokozuna project was a tenant build-out for a restaurant and bar on the ground floor of the Chisholm Creek Tract 30 building in north Oklahoma City. The gray box space consisted of 5¸863 usable square feet interior with a rooftop deck of approximately 1¸458 square feet.
The dining are floors are polished concrete and the mezzanine floors are cork tiles. The central main bar top and the 30-foot sushi bar top are both 3-inch thick reclaimed wood timbers with a clear epoxy resin finish.
Ten custom 5-foot diameter pendant fixtures provide dramatic lighting in the main dining area. Sliding Sohji screens create a private dining area with 56 Japanese Chochin lanterns dotting the ceiling.
A new steel and concrete stair was added on the east side of the existing building, connecting the ground floor to the mezzanine door at mid-landing, then to the roof deck at the top landing. The deck level includes a steel structure covered bar with a stainless steel bar top, built-in benches an retractable awnings running the full length of the roof deck. An oversized pop-art graphic adorns the end of the seating area and acts as an attractive marketing piece that can be seen from the street.
