Sidecar Chisholm Creek is located on the 2nd floor of a new mixed-use development in northwest Oklahoma City. The space consists of a narrow, deep shell space with a large roof deck accessible only at one end.
With the goal of maximizing the bar seating and the desire to have bar access for the large roof deck, the solution was to create an entry sequence taking the visitor down a narrow corridor which opens into the expansive bar area and adjacent roof deck. A large glass overhead door can be opened to connect the two spaces. The main focal point is the chandelier hanging above the bar, which places the liquor and wine storage in a brightly-lit glass display. This storage area is accessed by a ladder affixed to the column hiding electrical and mechanical systems. The narrow entry corridor neatly hides the office, dry storage area, restrooms, kitchen and walk-in refrigerator. Oversized graphics of vintage sidecar racers grace the west wall and far end of the roof deck. An expansive fire feature runs the length of the outdoor area.
The material palette consists of blackened steel and glass juxtaposed against reclaimed wood paneling and a warm color palette.
