Located along historic Route 66, a strip of 1930s cottage-style homes was renovated and adapted to hold retail and small offices with a cohesive landscaped and pedestrian-friendly master plan. The central concept of this plan provides a series of well-landscaped courtyards between the buildings and a continuous pedestrian plaza linking the street-side entrances of all buildings. The plaza is elevated slightly from the street-level sidewalk yet maintains visual connection with passing cars and pedestrians. Several pathways and street parking are provided at each of the signs marking the individual tenants. The signs also serve as landscape art objects creating a secondary visual rhythm and connection to link the spaces.
